Just to keep you all updated, the customer service in Charlottesville at the post office was much better however Mara got us lost twice on the way over. We never get lost in Brooklyn.
It is never a good idea to go to the Post Office on a Monday but we have no other choice. We have a mile of letters to send, artwork to get out and stamps to buy. I wonder if the trip to a Charlottesville post office will be more pleasant than if we had to go to a Brooklyn post office.
Packing up artwork to ship out.

Calling all Scholastic Art & Writing Award winners ages 20 and up!
We are currently accepting artwork (drawings, paintings, photographs, prints, etc.) for Now.On.Paper, our annual fundraiser and auction on March 7th - featuring special guest Myla Goldberg, author of Bee Season and Scholastic Awards alum, with her band The Walking Hellos!
It is our goal to continually support and raise awareness of our alumni and we have found that one of the most effective ways to achieve this is to bring their work to the art world. We would be thrilled to include your work! For details on how to submit, visit http://www.nyfa.org/opp_detail.asp?type=Opportunity&id=95&fid=6&sid=54&oppid=38121.
Gorgeous weather here in Charlottesville. Driving around with the windows down and sun roof open is pretty nice.
Also I want to give a birthday shout-out to Kyle. Happy birthday dude!
Fonts. Yes. In 2012 Mara (along with my help) will create some new fonts. This is really exciting. Here is a peek at our first finished font.
Currently in the works is a font made from Mara’s handwriting. This has proven to be much harder to make than we thought so we figured we would start slow with Taped.
If you really want a copy I can ask Mara and we can send you the file to download and use. Yes, I can get you our first font. It is good to know me.
In an attempt to unpack, organize, and put away some studio boxes and portfolios that have been packed up for far too long we have made some exciting discoveries. Above is Mara’s original ‘JT’ transparency drawing. Perhaps we should get this back on a screen…
Check it: You can get your own abbyabby on Etsy!
Most wedding and bide stuff is endless funny these days while joking around the studio.
Enjoy this.
The other good news is that we found a wedding photographer! One more thing to cross of my list. Now we need to get Mara dress shopping. Please be advised that Mara is not going to be a fun dress shopping. I hope I don’t have to go on this trip.
Yesterday we went to Michael’s. The instant joy that comes across Mara’s face the moment she walks in side is just sick. It is hilarious. She loves it there so much. And this is a good thing. At least I know how to instantly turn any bad day into a good day. All I have to do is drive Mara to Michael’s and it will be OK.
I don’t even think she needs to buy anything. I think she just needs to be there with all the beads, yarn, paint, stickers, stamps, paper, markers and the millions of other never ending craft supplies I can’t even begin to name.
This information changed both mine and Mara’s lives. We’ll never do it any other way again.
The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers invites past Scholastic Art & Writing Award winners, ages 20 and up, to donate small works on paper (including drawings, paintings, photographs, prints, etc.) for our annual fundraiser and auction in March 2012. Participating artists will receive complimentary admission to the event and will have the opportunity to participate in alumni programs in the future.
This open call exhibition and sale will benefit the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers programs, and will provide an opportunity for emerging and established artists to display their work and to connect with potential collectors.
I’m just spreading the word. Mara and I (as you probably already know) are big fans, supporters and admirers of the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers and all they do.
