Gorgeous weather here in Charlottesville. Driving around with the windows down and sun roof open is pretty nice.
Also I want to give a birthday shout-out to Kyle. Happy birthday dude!
The other good news is that we found a wedding photographer! One more thing to cross of my list. Now we need to get Mara dress shopping. Please be advised that Mara is not going to be a fun dress shopping. I hope I don’t have to go on this trip.
Yesterday we went to Michael’s. The instant joy that comes across Mara’s face the moment she walks in side is just sick. It is hilarious. She loves it there so much. And this is a good thing. At least I know how to instantly turn any bad day into a good day. All I have to do is drive Mara to Michael’s and it will be OK.
I don’t even think she needs to buy anything. I...

This information changed both mine and Mara’s lives. We’ll never do it any other way again.

My lingering task right now is to help find a wedding photographer. I have a few emails out but I would welcome any and all suggestions!
This is difficult as Mara is being quite picky.

December 23rd! I can hardly believe it. Tonight it is 4th night of Chanukah and Mara and Grant are only exchanging gifts that cost $1 or less. Grant has been (and continues to be) the lucky recipient of many ‘finds’ that Mara has managed to gather over the years that have been most recently left over from packing up and moving studios this summer. And last night Mara got an...
Finished up some holiday shopping today and then we moved on to present wrapping. Mara loves present wrapping and card making. She likes to take advantage of any and all crafting opportunities. I worry sometimes that we ‘over craft’ but Mara seemingly thinks that one can NEVER ‘over craft’ and that there is always another craft project on the horizon. Ahhh welcomed to...
I know, I am the worst. I have left you hanging for too long. We drove back down to Charlottesville on Sunday. So the days leading up to Sunday were busy running around going to holiday parties in NY and packing. And then since we got back we have been unpacking. We transported Mara’s whole art book collection (that has been in boxes for WAY TOO LONG) down here and it looks like Mara, Grant...
Yesterday we had 3 wedding related appointments. And really this was a lot, maybe 3 too many. Planning a wedding, as it turns out, is similar to planing a big art installation. The two most important things are true for both.
1. From the start you have to be very clear about what your vision.
2. You have to anticipate all the problems that might occur so that you can keep them from cropping up...
Mara was overwhelmed with all the good wishes. So I thank you for them since when Mara is happy I am happy.
I also wanted to report that Grant is now my new blogger friend. He has dived into the bloggersphere with Charlottesville Squash. The Charlottesville Squash Club had their first match last night against the UVA men’s team and you can read about it here. Mara was last night’s...
Yes, the rumors on the street are true. Mara and Grant are finally going to get hitched. I am very happy for them. Sometimes (a lot of the time) I am pretty sure I like Grant more than Mara. He is definitely the nicer one of the pair. I feel like my daily activities have more than doubled when news of this broke. When all is said and done, Mara promised I could add ‘wedding planner’ to...

Mara has an eye twitch and she won’t stop complaining about it. Annoying? Yes.

If you can’t make it to Nashville before the 9th, you can at least read a review of Mara’s show.

Dishes, thank you notes, grocery shopping and finding a home in the house for all the things Mara and Grant brought back from both Maine and Brooklyn.
I know, I have left every one hanging for a few days. We are still very full from Thanksgiving. I will eventually post some photos of the amazing meal that we ate and are still very full from.
We are back in Charlottesville with lots on our plate. What is a good activity when there is so much to do that you can’t even fathom trying to get it all done? Organize the pantry. Mara spent the...
Driving up to Maine for a Turkey feast. Jenna’s menu sounds mouth watering. I don’t even care if Mara and Grant only packed peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for us to eat for the over 14 hour drive today.
ps: we are officially iPhone users from this point forward. It is very exciting. You will notice the better quality photos on the blog and while everything electronic in our lives are mac based there is still a bit of a learning curve on the iPhone. Most of our free time in the coming days and maybe weeks will be spent trying to discover the seemingly limitless possibilities. I like having my own...
I am super excited to announce that the Movable Type Truck is coming to see us and stopping in Charlottesville tomorrow afternoon. We are really looking forward to doing some letterpress printing and seeing Kyle! If you are in Charlottesville and want to print I can update you with the info!
Beautiful sunset (hard to capture from moving train) as we head south from DC. You will have to just take my word for it.
Penn Station is a disgusting sauna. It is quite unpleasant.
Could it be earlier? And on a Monday? Hardly? Our train is at noon and we have lots to do before then not to mention Mara and Gaby invited me on their morning walk. Gaby promised to make smoothies. I wonder if she made them..m
I love dim sum dates with Mara’s grad school buddies.
Amanda ran the Richmond Marathon today! Go Amanda!
I have updated my look. What do you think?
I know the weather is nice. It is just SO HUMID. And it feels double hot inside since it is November and all buildings have their heat turned on because it is November. Mara’s apartment is a sweat lodge. Did I mention that it is November? Shouldn’t it be brisk out?
