I decided to tag along with Mara up to Boston today. She has a baby shower for her friend Lyndsey. Mara, Jeanne, Amelia & Erin promised that we would have a fun night on the town post baby shower so I am really looking forward to that.
Mara & I have to meet Erin in Stamford, CT by 8am this morning to get a ride. This means we need to be on a 7am train out of Grand Central Station. This...
And you can listen to the Eurhythmics… Yes, sweet dreams are made of these.
Note to selves: if you arrive at ikea before it opens you get free hot chocolate.
To tie is over till lunch David gave us some Lady Walton’s bite sized butter wafers. On the package it says they are made with “European-style butter.” excuse me? What exactly does that mean? 10 points to anyone willing to enlighten us.
Also I hope we get to eat lunch soon.
It is pretty safe to say that I am pretty glad I never decided to go to law school. Mara’s sorting and filing skills are quite impressive for a girl that is constantly just a little all over the place. She keeps complaining that it would be move fun if we had some music to listen to. We are jointly longing for our friend from dunkin donuts yesterday with his hand held radio tuned to light...
We are off to Mara’s dad’s office today to help work on some spreadsheets. The tough economy is forcing Mara to capitalize on some skills she does not like to use. She is kind enough to teach me what she knows about office work. It is probably not going to be awesome.
Also Mara is now teaching twice a week till 9pm and well I already am not looking forward to seeing her bright and...
we plunged into the depths of Mara’s studio today at the Navy Yards. we had to go early, as Mara has a slight fear of her studio landlord. She is pretty certain he works in the evenings so if we go in the mornings we won’t run into him.
we went looking for some specific things. we could not locate those items. hummm…..where could they be.
Mara has to go sort things out up at Columbia this morning and then we will be bombing around the Upper West Side for most of the afternoon and into the early evening before Mara teaches again at 6.
I actually don’t know if I will bomb around with her, I might take off after we deal with things this morning but I am pretty sure she will make me hang out with her so she does not have to...
I am taking the day off to just sit around and do nothing and rest up for tonight’s celebration of Kyle’s birthday.
Burgers, Beers & Bulls.
(we had to skip the burgers as Mara got caught up in some administrative tasks but due to the extreme amount of red meat we have consumed in the past few days this might be best.)
To say the least, Mara is a bit overwhelmed as apparently last night over 40 students showed up for the 14 opens slots in the class she is teaching this semester. She will be spending the morning trying to figure that out as I get to read LOST blogs and watch Mara’s blood boil because she has to come up with a class list by this afternoon.
I can’t tell you how happy I am to have LOST...
We have been tightening our belt buckles around here in recent weeks. Among other things this has lead to Mara plunging the depths of her freezer during meal times. So far the worst thing we have eaten are frost bitten frozen hotdogs.
Mara’s sister, Jenna, has been back from Maine for the past week, unlike us, she goes out for dinner every night of the week. I feel fortunate that on many...

Well, actually I just signed up for one, I guess what I am considering is keeping up a twitter account. Anyone have any advice, encouragement or even discouragement?

& everyone’s favorite plane crash word. Everyone on TV has tried to use it in at least one sentence.
hello promotion....
So Mara is considering hiring some interns. She went to some networking event for Bowdoin and everyone was talking about passing along intern opportunities to Bowdoin to share with their current students.
I have been promoted to Studio Manager. This includes my sub position as Intern Coordinator. I will still have all my other responsibilities but now I officially am the one in charge.
of course things got messy. Mara wanted to catch up on the past 5 This American Life podcasts she has missed while we are sorting though her miscellaneous belongings. I should have seen this coming, each time we opened a box or a drawer or went through a pile of things Mara was like, “Hey, I forgot about [insert random useless discarded object here] I want to make something with...
shit man. When did there get to be so much to do? It is the 13th day of 2009. Lucky number 13. Today I am helping Mara purge many things she does not really need to own. She is a bit of a pack rat, and had trouble getting rid of things sometimes. Sometimes this works out in her favor, like when we found and fixed an old lamp last week. Then there are the other times that this is far from...
a fight broke out at the Burger King in the Fulton Mall today. I heard it and saw it as I was walking by. The participants literally came falling out of the door, the door of the joint was ripped off its hinges and then mass chaos. When the cops arrived everyone ran.
classic Monday afternoon. Glad I gave up Whoppers in my new years resolution.
Back to business as usual. Post office, paperwork, emails, bill paying, more paperwork….times like these I think being an artist might not be as fun as it looks.
Mara has some lunch thing, maybe I will draw all over my face with markers while she is gone.
things are not getting done today…the Sparks Festival took us all out of commission. Apologies for the lack of updates today…I gots nothing.
