And The Pursuit of Happiness →
This is a visual blog that appears the last Friday of every month in the New York Times by artist Maira Kalman. This past one is about Thomas Jefferson and a trip to Monticello. A perfect thing to read before heading to Virginia tomorrow!

Mara went off to the nail salon. She left me here to do the drawing inventory. Sometimes I wish I was the boss. Not that I want to go to the nail salon, just so that I would not get stuck doing the inventory.
Downtime. What was I thinking? not sure when I will have time to post all the things I want to post about last weekend since it is already Tuesday and I need to post things about today. Maybe I will throw in some random highlight photos throughout the day. There is much to get done today.
Jenna you will be very happy to know that we picked up 100 frozen dumplings yesterday in Chinatown and...
Mara keeps talking about all the ‘crazy dreams’ she had last night about Michael Jackson.
Really, the only thing that would make people watching on Church Street better would be some movie theater popcorn.
The opening last night was so much fun! Plus as an added bonus The James Ensor show was also opening. Also fantastic. A major even extra bonus that was that rain held and we could enjoy cocktails in the garden after we had seen the art.
Now we are off to the airport! See you in Vermont!
Tonight we are off to MoMA for Projects 90: Song Dong opening tonight. Both Mara & I are very excited as we got a small preview from one of the show’s curators when we were at MoMA last week with Lydia & Mark. It is gonna be great!
This morning we are making packing lists. I am heading up to Vermont with Mara for a few days. We leave tomorrow. One of the highlights will be a trip to AbbyAbby headquarters. We are very much looking forward to seeing the head honcho, Abby, herself and also a tour of her entire operation up there! Besides that, I know it goes with out saying, but we are hoping for some less wet weather. I have...
Today it continues to rain. Obviously.
Here Comes the Rain Again. I’m not meeting up with Mara, Anne & Kyle. I’m not going anywhere. I have had it with this weather. Someone call me when the rain stops.
Yesterday was so wet. After the recording session we met up with Lydia & Mark for the next 13 hours. We got soaked in the rain, ate dim sum, went to MoMA, had happy hour cocktails at The Dove then dinner at Otto and then met up with Dan & Alex for some darts. Good time was had by all minus the fact that Mara won’t stop complaining today about how wearing soaking wet sneakers and...
Mars lost her pink umbrella. It is sad, that umbrella has survived many a rain and held up despite the fact that it looked like a crappy umbrella. I encouraged her to go with a navy option when buying a new umbrella the other day as navy with her brightly orange colored rain coat is a much better look than the pink. She is complaining that the new umbrella is not as awesome as the old one but such...
Have some rain! I mean really!?!?
"halloooh maaaara"
Mara has been working on these drawings all morning so far. I actually think they are really coming along. I feel that she is getting bored with them so hopefully she figures things out before she totally loses interest since I really think this currently project is looking awesome.
This afternoon we have some massive mailings to do at the post office and then we are off to Columbia to clean...
Recession Special.** Mara no longer has an unlimited ride metrocard. This means we walk everywhere possible. I believe this is rain or shine. Tomorrow we have to head up to Columbia. Here’s hoping we can take the subway.
**please note that this is not really a special.
Happy Feet
We got a late start to the day. Mara has been going crazy for the past month trying to locate her ‘summer shoes.’ The fact that it really has not felt much like summer has probably kept her in check but this morning she was determined to find her missing shoes.
FOUND. We tore everything apart but the missing shoes have been found. She had forgotten she had those shoes shipped back to...
I am under advisement to not post any more weekend photos here. Eventually I will upload them all or provide a link to a place you can see them. We had a wonderful weekend up at Camp. Mara loves camp and it was cool to see the place I had heard so much about. We both amazingly feel like we have been gone for a week but really it was just the weekend. I taking today off to regroup. Mara has some...
Eagle Pond or Bust!
& we’re off! all packed. We are going to try and stop at the Dumpling place to pick up some frozen dumplings for Jeanne as a thank you for letting us crash at her place tonight before heading up to Camp in the morning!
We went out to get some provisions for the trip. twizzlers, gummy bears and peanut butter pretzels. Mara’s Us Weekly arrived in the mail today and Lauren has the new In Style. I will also bring Cycle World since Mara is still getting that for free. Seems fitting for a trip to New Hampshire.
Mara will continue to do some Laundry and pack and I will color pink squares. This is never ending...
