Also once we start the packing phase we probably will need some help. So this is my unofficial first call out to all of you who are unemployed or underemployed. Mara is letting me be the point person on this project so give me a shout if you are interested in working with us later this month.
Inventory. We have to take a full inventory of Mara’s studio so we can figure out the best and most effective way to pack it up and move it out. Today is officially inventory assessment day 1.
Done & done. 2 hours. We’re that good. Made the 4:24 train home. We’re also a little sweaty and smelly. The good news about that is no one will want to sit near us on the train.
I wish I didn’t have to sit near us.
It is to Mara’s own detriment that she is so good at hanging her work. That said it is not coming down so easily. She has to get back on that 16 foot ladder. She is not too happy about it.
Sitting across the aisle from 2 old Jewish ladies that are listing and comparing alements, medications, doctors, and cures.
Today we are off to Wassaic, NY to deinstall Mara’s piece. Yes. This is a long day on the train. Please cross your fingers for us and send us good thoughts. The train runs every 2 hours so if we can deinstall in 2 hours we can hop back on the train and be home by 6 but if it takes us more than 2 hours we won’t get home till 8.
We are playing with fire today and we hope we don’t...
Maybe we just saw a UFO?
Check it out: Mara’s college roommate Sam is featured on CityTVSanta Monica TV!
Neither Mara nor I know anything about sound. We have a call/memo in to our favorite all-knowing music man but we are still awaiting a response. The above is actually just a sound clip recorded 2 weeks ago from the radio on our trip home from Maine. We were stuck in traffic and found this guy’s station. I have 2 other sound clips but I am hoping that I don’t have to turn them into...
It looks as though Mara might lose her studio space in the end of September. This is very sad news for both of us as well as Thyra Mara’s studiomate. Mara does not know yet what she wants to do or what she can do. This will mean out next project is packing up and shipping out to an unknown location. I dread it.

Mara is going bowling tonight at the Brooklyn Bowl with the Scholastic Art & Writing Award alum and Alliance staff tonight. She asked if I wanted to join but I am tired from our purging and there is a bad case of allergies making its way around the studio this week so I am going to call it an early night. She is taking Kate and I am sure Kate might be a more fun plus 1 at bowling that I would...

Mara sometimes receives some of the best holiday cards from her friends. It probably helps that many of them are artists. Last week we took advantage of the return of the bright white frames at Ikea that have a lower prices this season and stocked up. While going though boxes and piles of stuff Mara found the below two cards, the first by Liz Dellheim and the second from a few years ago by Emily...

We have SO MUCH SHIT to sort through.
Why is lifetime TV not in HD?
While we were at Monticello Lydia was our unofficial tour guide of the grounds but inside Jefferson’s house we had an official tour guide. Her name was (I kid you not) Candy Castle.
UPDATE: Candy Castle drives a giant old Mercedes she bought with money inherited from her grandfather. This is obvious because the license plate is something like “THXGRPA.” Amazing. I love that...

Mara just shared Danny’s blog of the decorative art he has done on commission. I thought I would share it with you guys. Pretty cool stuff. For Danny’s fine art website you can click here.

It is HOT in NYC. We got back last night after 10 days of traveling. We are both tired and Mara has a task list like no other. This morning over breakfast at the diner, due to the fact that Mara has no gas or hot water today, we set out an ambitious plan of attack. Eventually I will post some pictures from our travels to the Blog when I get a chance to do some uploading.
Mara got an awful sun burn on Monday while we were wandering the streets of Richmond. She spent all day yesterday complaining. She says it feels worse today. Great. Today we have lots to clean up as we had a dinner party & Mara cooked a delicious pork tenderloin! Who knew!? So the big plan is to stay out of the sun and get cleaned and packed. We head northwards this evening.
It is so hot out so we had to get some air conditioning before we passed out. So we are stopping for lunch.
Mara & I are on our own in Richmond. Not sure how we will spend the afternoon. But I think we are going to go exploring. I think we are having a heat wave and heat waves here are hotter than they are in NYC. If you happen to be in Richmond maybe you will see is walking around. We will be the really sweaty ones who probably look lost.
