Oh happy day. Mara ordered this as stickers for me! We have been talking about making stickers for a few years now and IT IS REALLY HAPPENING!
And they are for my show in August! I am pretty excited. I’m going to get stuck everywhere.
Oh happy day. Mara ordered this as stickers for me! We have been talking about making stickers for a few years now and IT IS REALLY HAPPENING!
And they are for my show in August! I am pretty excited. I’m going to get stuck everywhere.
My stickers have arrived! I have so many and I am sharing. If you would like some please email me: paul@marasprafkin.com and I will send you some on the condition that you stick them in places and photograph the newly stuck sticker. I know many of you have fun exciting summer trips and adventures and I want these everywhere. I will also post the photos of the stickers right here on the blog! Everybody wins! Happy sticking!
Mara is the first one to stick a sticker! Right on her iPhone case!
As I mentioned earlier, I am honored to participate in a group show opening August 2nd at the Re Institute in Millerton, NY. The show is called Another Side and it is being curated by the artist collaborative Ghost of a Dream.
This is very exciting since it is my first art exhibition so I wanted to get to know all the other participants in the show. I figured I could use my blog to also introduce you to everyone as well. I will be posting my interviews with each artist as a lead up to the show and continue during the show’s run though August.
Today I am going to start with the show’s curators, Ghost of a Dream.
Sunday morning Starbucks infused believers!
Brent Birnbaum is my next featured artist from Another Side opening at The Re Institute on August 2nd.
For more information about Brent check out his website: http://www.brentbirnbaum.com/
Ann Grahm is another artist featured in the group exhibition Another Side being curated by Ghost of a Dream at The Re Institute.
While I have only known Ann very briefly it seems to be she is very good at twisting my words.
Mara has known Jennifer Sullivan for a number of years now and was excited to hear that she was also going to be part of Another Side, opening a week from tomorrow, at The Re Institute. Jennifer is going to be performing a re-enactment of Madonna’s 1984 performance of Like a Virgin at the MTV music awards, with an accompanying karaoke video featuring a Lolita-esque theme at the opening and I am for sure looking forward to it!
We made it back to NYC late last night and I am doing my best to get both Mara and me caught back up with things after a whirlwind few days in Charlottesville. I am starting Monday morning off with my interview with Eric Zimmerman. Eric will be creating an installation for Another Side at the Re Institute that examines the operation of alter-ego. I am looking forward to seeing Eric’s ‘sheer luck’ in action!
For more images and information about Eric’s artwork, you can check out his website: http://www.ezimmerman.org/
Looks like someone might just want to get naked on the beach…
Seems like Guadalupe Gonzalez might just have the right idea. Lets all collectivly keep our fingers crossed for a beach at Thursday’s opening of Another Side curated by Ghost of a Dream at The Re Institute.
I wonder what would happen if we each bring some sand…
The next artist in Another Side that I want you to meet is Trent Xi. Trent is a sculptor that is cheered up by Cheetos. This is my kind of artist. Maybe Trent will invite me over for a studio visit sometime. I will promise to bring the Cheetos.
Snoop Dogg is now Snoop Lion. This article from today’s am New York seemed a bit relevant to tomorrow’s group show opening.
Jasmin Lim and I have something in common. We are both assistants to artists. She thinks she looks like Shelly Duvall. What’s not to like? I’m just going to say what you must be thinking. It would be more awesome if I looked like Jack Nicholson. Everything would be more awesome if I looked like Jack Nicholson.
None the less this is Jasmin’s interview for you to enjoy and help get you even more excited than you already were about Another Side opening tomorrow (THURSDAY) at The Re Institute.
In anticipation of tonight’s opening, I bring you my interview with Brian Allen. This guy makes ‘Dude Art’ that is sometimes inspired by things like Chuck Norris. Ummmm….Awesome.
Brian would be nothing without Breanne Trammell. And while I didn’t get to interview Breanne I can give you a few links to learn and read more about her:
http://Breannetrammell.tumblr.com/
and she had her own kickstarter for her summer ‘13 project Nails Across America, you can still donate though pay pal and find out more to help fund the project. Mara and I might just have to get her down to Charlottesville….
Hope to see you at The Re Institute for tonight’s opening of Another Side from 6-9pm. There will be FREE stickers for all my believers out there!
Opening panorama!
